2014 Texas Republican Assembly Endorsements

At its statewide endorsing convention in Fort Worth 2014, TXRA delegates from throughout the State made the following endorsements: Governor – Greg Abbott; Attorney General – Ken Paxton; Railroad Commissioner – Becky Berger; State Land Commissioner – David Watts.

Because a 67% majority is required to endorse, there were many races where that threshold was not reached. This doesn’t mean the delegates didn’t like the candidates – only that a sufficiently bright-line distinction did not appear to exist between the candidates.

In commenting on the race for Texas Lt. Governor, TXRA President Steve Hollern stated, “In my 39 years of Texas politics, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a high-level race like this with as strong, deep, and qualified group of conservative candidates.”

TXRA Endorsing Convention

NOTICE: Due to recent availability of the Riley Conference Center, the venue for the Convention has been moved from the Naylor Student Center to the Riley Conference Center – still at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The Riley Center is at 1701 W Boyce Avenue in Fort Worth, just off James Street and about 3/4 mile north of Interstate 20. This is the same location we used in 2012 and the parking is much more convenient than at the Student Center.

Registration is open Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and reopens Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Formal registration will close at 9:00 a.m., but Delegates and Alternates may register throughout the day if they arrive late.

The convention starts at 8:30 and Sharron Angle, NFRA President, will speak at approximately 8:50 a.m.
